these pink-bodied birds with a unique beak,are generally found in large colonies. The beaks are capable of eleminating mud and silt before they cam eat their food. Flamingo can be found in many Afirican countries,areas of Florida,and one particular type of species in found only in the Andean Highlands.The various Flamingo species are- Greater Flamingo,Andean Flamingo,James's Flamingo,lesser Flamingo American Flamingo,and Chilean Flamingo. American Flamingo live in the West Indies,Yucatan,in the northern part of south America and along the Galapagos Islands.Chilean ,Andean and James's Flamingo live in south America ,and the Greater Flamingo can also be found in the middle east and India. Flamingo eat larva,small insects ,blue-green and red algae,mollusks,crustaceans and small fish,according to sea world their tendency to eat both vegetation and meat makes them omnivores. Flamingo are pink because the algae they consume are loaded with beta carotene,an organic chemical that contains a reddish-orange pigment.(Beta carotene is a also present in many plants ,but especially in tomatos,spinach,pumpkins,sweet potatos and of course carrots)The mollusks and crustanceans Flamingos snack ao contain similar pigment-packing carotenoids
