Herons

Herons have a slight ressemblance to storks,spoonbills etc.These are also known as egrets or bitterns.These are generally found near wetlands.The feed on fish,insects,and other aquatic animals.There are about 64 different species of Herons found in the world.An all white subspecies the great white Heron is found in Coastal areas of southern Florida,along with individuals that are in termediate in plumage.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Look for Great Blue Herons in saltwater and fresh water habitats,from open coasts,marshes,sloughs,river banks,and lakes to backyard gold fish ponds.They also forage in grasslands and agricultural fields.Breeding  birds gather in colonies or "Heronries"to build stick high off the ground.
